Dear HSD Parents/Guardians:
The Hazelwood School District (HSD) takes every measure to ensure the safety of all students while in our care. For obvious reasons we do not publicize the specific details of our school’s safety plans, but please be confident that all schools within the HSD have current plans. We have plans for various types of natural disasters or crisis situations due to human involvement which have the potential to occur while students are in school.
We have staff who are trained, prepared and dedicated to making sure that our plans are implemented to the best of our ability if a disaster should occur. In addition, all HSD students and staff participate in monthly emergency drills to prepare for natural or man-made disasters.
As part of our emergency planning, HSD has protocols on how to communicate with parents during emergencies. This includes auto-dialer telephone calls, e-mail messages, our District website, Cable TV Channel 988, Facebook, Twitter and recorded messages on our emergency hotline 314.953.7669.
In addition, if we are faced with an emergency, up-to-date information will also be given to our local news media sources.
